Members were presented with the Recorded Crime & Disorder report, the report focused on the recorded crime in the Stockton on Tees Borough over a 12-month period starting in April 2025 to April 2026.

Officers highlighted the following sections of the report to Members:

•              Publicly reported offences had increased from the previous year by 14.8%.

•              Police generated crime had also increased slightly from the previous year by 2.8%.

•              Publicly reported Anti-Social Behaviour had seen a 1.5% reduction.

•              Criminal Damage & Arson had overall shown a reduction of 1.6% however Arson showed an increase of 14.0% since last year.

•              Drug offences had reduced by 6.1%.

•              Public Order Offences had increased by 4.2%.

Officers informed Members that a portion of the increases highlighted above could be attributed to Operation Magnolia, which was a retrospective recording of historical offences in Kirklevington. The increase in certain crime types across Cleveland was discussed with members, and how support multi agency support could be the solution. With Members and Officers agreeing that the Cost-of-Living crisis and low employment could be a contributing factor, and what early intervention work could be done to tackle it.

Members Agreed to note the report.
