This report seeks approvals for steps to gain control of the former Golden Eagle Hotel to enable redevelopment of the site along with approval to dispose of the Councils freehold interest in the centre. The report also seeks allocation of previously approved funding to support delivery of a new swimming pool and gym linked to the existing Thornaby Pavilion.

This decision will enable the steps required to secure partial acquisition of Billingham town centre and long term redevelopment of the centre in line with principles of Levelling Up Fund award

Update on the proposals which have been developed for a Sports Hub at the former Billingham Campus site which are being progressed via the Football Foundations Hubs Programme. The decision will enable identification of necessary funding to act as match funding, public consultation and next steps required to progress the proposal.
