Action Plan for Agreed recommendations - Review of Disabled Facilities Grants

Minutes:

The Service Lead for Housing Investment and Migration Support presented an action plan setting out how the agreed recommendations from the Scrutiny Review of Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) would be implemented and target dates for completion. The overall aim of the review had been to ensure the service was delivered in an efficient, effective and customer focused way, and it was noted that progress had been made on the actions for implementing recommendations.

It was questioned whether the adaptations undertaken by Thirteen had been confirmed. It was noted that due to changing recording systems, they had not been able to confirm this however their new recording software systems were now ensuring information on adaptations would be captured and evidenced.

The draft letters and leaflets to be sent to those applying for a DFG, which had been circulated with the action plan for comments, were discussed. Members thought that they were clear and simple, with relevant information included, therefore easy to understand. The Committee’s views would also be sought on what would be covered within a study on the impact of DFG’s, as well as the revised customer feedback form.

It was suggested that Stockton-on-Tees News be utilised to make residents aware of DFG’s, as it is delivered to every household in the Borough.

The Committee thanked the officer for the action plan and noted it had fully taken onboard the comments and suggestions from Members during the review.

AGREED that the Action Plan be approved, and a progress update be provided November.
