Decision:

Subject to the formal consultation process to approve the implementation of a permanent Traffic Regulation Order associated with the new Durham Lane cycleway to reduce the speed limit from 50mph to 30mph at northern and southern sections of Durham Lane. These sections would be 30mph by virtue of new street lighting to be introduced along the length of Durham Lane. The scheme also involves the signalisation of the Durham Lane/Cleasby Way junction including Toucan crossing facilities. Additionally, the provision of three new Toucan crossings (one of which will be a Humped Toucan Crossing), two new Parallel crossings (one of which will be a Humped Parallel Crossing) and two raised junctions on Mayfield Crescent at their northern and southern junctions with Durham Lane.

Reasons for the decision:

The proposed speed limit reduction to 30mph, pedestrian crossings and raised junctions are necessary for the successful safe implementation of the Durham Lane cycleway
